Head of Purchasing/Category Management
Location: Staffordshire – Full–Time, On–Site
Package: 120,000 – 150,000 plus car allowance and bonus schemes
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Purchasing/Category Management to lead and optimise purchasing strategies aligned with our business objectives. You will play a key role in driving cost improvements, fostering cross–functional collaboration, and building strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy Development & Integration: Lead the creation and global integration of category strategies, ensuring they align with business operations.
- Relationship & Business Integration: Build and maintain long–term stakeholder relationships to enhance business capabilities and performance.
- People Leadership: Develop and manage a high–performing category team with a cross–functional mindset.
- Business Management & Coordination: Leverage cross–functional category knowledge to identify and exploit business opportunities.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Proven experience in change management and influencing senior stakeholders
- Conflict resolution and results–driven mindset
- Comprehensive knowledge in category & supplier management, cost and pricing strategies, and contract management
- Financial acumen and performance management skills
Experience & Qualifications:
- Proven success in purchasing within an engineering and production environment
- Experience leading multi–disciplinary and virtual teams in a global matrix organisation
- Strong relationship–building skills with senior stakeholders
- Engineering or program management background preferred
- Graduate–level education (CIPS qualification preferred)
- Flexibility for occasional travel
