Independence Capital ("IC") are a hybrid private equity & advisory firm specialising in seeding new buy–build strategies. IC provide an alternative to legacy private equity; enabling teams and leaders who have exited before or from market leading corporates and who want to start their own buy–build group with passive investors and a broad service wrapper de–risking M&A/funding/recruitment/technology/execution. To date we have assisted leaders from global family office backed businesses, UK and US listed businesses and global industrial conglomerates who have exited for over GBP2bn.
IC thesis is to acquire GBP2m to GBP15m turnover assets off–market and to aggregate to an ultimate exit–scale of cGBP7–10m EBITDA (across a 3–5yr time horizon but without constraints) before dual–track exiting to Trade or Private Equity. Having developed multiple SME focused service platforms, we already have connectivity with over 10k SME customers and are looking to diversify our platforms by seeding a new strategy in Fire & Security, a market which we believe benefits from many of the hallmarks which have proven so effective elsewhere.
Having researched the Fire & Security market and developed a clear acquistion thesis, including those teams and leaders who have previously scaled and exited, we are keen to connect with a wider pool of potential teams and leaders before embarking on our acquisition process Q4 2024.
Requirements
- Over 7 years experience at Board level
- Over 10 years experience of Fire & Security sector (or directly adjacent i.e Fire & Security supply chain or building services more generally for example)
- Demonstrable track record of regularly delivering scale and EBITDA growth
- Prior PE experience and (or) delivery of exits are desirable but not essential
- Prior M&A experience – origination or integration – is helpful but not necesary (as this is our area of key expertise)
- For outstanding candidates consideration would be given to Finance, Operations, Commercial, Product leaders stepping into their first MD role
- Recognising unique equity award – all sponsored candidates will be expected to seed the acquisition vehicle with a meaningful capital commitment (if you are not comfortable investing a six figure sum please do not apply)
- Location agnostic but generally preferred that candidates are or can be based North West, Midlands or Yorkshire to be proximate to IC head office
