We have an exciting opportunity in engineering at our Three Bridges Depot.

The successful candidate will be Responsible for leading, the upgrade to the existing Passenger Information System (PIS) on board GTR's class 700 train. The system once completed will be transformational to our customers and our drivers with the ability for the train to receive and then broadcast real–time messages, informing passengers of any disruption and or alterations to the services.

Future enhancements (optional upgrade) could see real–time news feeds and other transport sector information, being displayed within the passenger carriages.

Day to day management comprised but not limited to;
  • Periodic progress reporting (using GTR's Portfolio Project Management tool)
  • Management of project Risk, Assumptions, Issues & Dependencies (RAID)
  • Chair project reviews both internal and external (Siemens)
  • Maintain multiple project trackers or technical submissions, ensuring all documents are reviewed and responses are supplied with in agreed timescales
  • Management of project plan, internal and external
  • Stake holder management
  • Working with Functional Leads to deliver project goes (refer to project management plan)
You will need to have
  • Proven experience of managing and embedding projects involving People, Process & Technology
  • Track record of delivering on train system upgrades with experience across the complete project life cycle.
  • Work closely with business, internal / external stakeholders, and delivery partners to understand the business requirements and drive forwards delivery at pace and expected quality.
  • Deliver based on openness, mutual trust, and delivering on promises – always looking after GTR's interests.
  • Able to deliver on–time, within budget in challenging and sometimes ambiguous circumstances.
  • Manage project estimating, resourcing & financial budgets.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understand and monitor the quality of project deliverables and how they align to project objectives.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a multi–disciplinary–team collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge and use of industry–standard program/project methods, tools, and techniques
  • Well–developed influencing skills, strength of character, tenacity, and cultural sensitivity in order to be persuasive and effective.
  • Flexible, can accommodate additional working hours to meet deadlines when appropriate.
We are looking for someone who has
  • Educated to degree standard or have relevant alternative equivalent skills and experience.
  • Appropriate training and Practitioner certification in Project or Programme Management (e.g. Prince 2, PMI, PMBOK, MSP etc),
  • Have good working knowledge / experience of Microsoft O365 stack (including MS Teams) and relevant Project Management planning tools including MS Project, MS Visio etc
