Who are we looking for?

We are currently looking for a new Head of Welfare to join our ONCAMPUS London Birkbeck and LSBU Student Services team.

The role is on a full–time, permanent basis with the location in London, United Kingdom.

The Head of Welfare s role is to lead the welfare provision across the two ONCAMPUS centres in London, facilitating a highly supportive and caring environment for the centres students to help them succeed, allowing them to reach their potential and providing opportunities for students to develop emotionally and socially.

The successful candidate will have a key role in ensuring an excellent student experience and will be actively involved in the student engagement agenda. The role will involve working alongside the ONCAMPUS centres Academic and Administrative teams, overseeing pastoral provision and working closely with central teams to ensure welfare needs are met across ONCAMPUS.

As part of this role you will also:

  • Have responsibility for the wellbeing and safety of students, ensuring that they are up to date with best practice through personal development, including networking and conference attendance to meet student needs.
  • Support the Director of Student Engagement and Experience to ensure welfare policies meet safeguarding and prevent guidance.
  • Support the centres efforts to maintain high levels of quality, compliance and student attendance and continual improvement of welfare provision and the overall student experience.
  • Have oversight of and address all pastoral issues raised in Centre escalating where required, ensuring accurate and up to date records are kept for each welfare issue, assisting with critical incidents until they are managed to resolution.
  • Be a Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring that all safeguarding and prevent responsibilities are met across the centres.
  • Ensure that all staff have completed mandatory safeguarding and prevent training and a schedule of refresher training is in place.
  • Prepare welfare reports to identify key trends and provision needs, as requested by the Senior Management Team.
  • Conduct an annual review of welfare provision as part of the quality assurance process and set, implement and monitor the Centre s development plan.
  • Collaborate with Centre Management to create and sign off risk assessments in relation to student safety, events and offsite trips.
