HEAD OF FP&A

The Role

Our client that has experienced constant expansion now needs a best–in–class planning, analysis and business–partnering leader, to help maximise the efficiency and insight of their business.

We are therefore looking for a new Head of FP&A. The right person will be enthusiastic and have an aptitude for interpreting data and possess great commercial acumen.

Main purpose of the job

Ownership of planning & forecasting processes, including for trading performance, stock and cashflow.
Supporting the adoption and understanding of all forecasts across the senior leadership team and across business operations.
Analysis of actual performance against plans, including understanding route causes of variances and underlying risks & opportunities.
Performing one–off pieces of analysis such as for potential acquisitions or new commercial initiatives.
Maximising value of data from across the business, to assist driving best practices and aligned performance between sites.

Objectives and key tasks

Business Performance

  • Support the process of modelling and formalising company strategy, owning the forecasting of financial and non–financial metrics.
  • Lead the modelling process including identification of key risks & opportunities.
  • Monitor performance against the plans, analysing and communicating variances.

Reporting

  • Build an improved reporting suite to encourage rapid focus on areas of greatest opportunity and highlight emerging variances.
  • Work with the team to move reporting closer to real–time performance tracking to lead decision–making.
  • Build a single version of the truth, aligning reporting across other functions to improve understanding and reliability.

Business Partnering

  • Use insights to build strong relationships across the business, moving Finance engagement forward in all decision–making processes.
  • Develop insights through trends and trajectories more than just historical statements.
  • Work with the business to identify new KPIs to improve business performance.

Investment Appraisal

  • Coordinate the capex control process including presenting recommendations
  • Develop ad hoc financial models and analysis to assist and support strategic initiatives and business cases.
  • Lead the financial modelling for due diligence processes for all acquisitions.

Risk Management

  • Aid risk management through scenario analysis and stress testing, including in support of bank covenants.
  • Ensure integrity of financial models through implementation of suitable controls.
  • Work with IT to ensure we have suitably robust, secure and flexible technology solutions to support FP&A activities.

Leadership

  • Lead the FP&A team as it develops, including team recruitment, development and performance management.
  • Act as a member of the senior management team, proactively supporting within the Finance team and across the central functions.

Salary 60–70,000 Dependent on Experience
