We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Data Engineering and Architecture. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Planning and Chief Data Officer, you will lead the Data Engineering team in developing and supporting a new university–wide resilient, trusted data platform, underpinning the University's goals of delivering insight and intelligence across the institution.

You will be accountable for establishing data architecture/engineering projects, standards and design patterns, directing work across the team to deliver data engineering improvements in line with modern best practice.

You will possess detailed knowledge of the concepts and principles of data modelling and data architecture diagramming practices as well as an understanding of the fundamental stages of the agile data analytics delivery lifecycle, including ETL and data cleansing skills, data modelling and architecture, code management and version control. You will hold knowledge of relational database management systems and SQL, preferably Oracle and data–centric programming languages.

You will have excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills with the ability to succinctly translate and simplify complex information. With extensive experience of managing complex projects with strategic influence, with significant impact upon resources you will contribute to senior level decision making within a highly performing university.
