As Head of Finance, you will be responsible for the day to day management of the UK Finance team, reporting into the local Managing Director and supporting the wider leadership team with making strategic business decisions.

Client Details

My client are a family owned, manufacturing business who are headquartered in Stoke turning over circa £30 million. They are looking to add a Head of Finance to their established Finance team, to help push the business forward and provide more insight to the senior leadership team to help influence decisions.

Description
  • Strategic
    • Acting as a business partner to the Managing Director and management team on site
    • Also acting a business partner to the Chief Technology Officer with regards to strategic business decisions around product development
    • Work with the Group Finance Director, where necessary, on merger & acquisition opportunities and subsequent integration
  • Leadership
    • Managing, motivating and mentoring the finance team
  • Reporting
    • Responsibility for the final preparation and submission to Group of monthly management accounts
    • Responsibility for weekly cashflow reporting of the business to Group
    • Driving the Europe annual budget process and monthly forecasting exercises
    • Leading and reviewing the timely production of financial and management reporting, including KPI's, trends and cost centre reporting
    • Managing the site audit, ensuring deadlines are met for the preparation of the statutory accounts and tax returns
    • Work with the Product Development team to develop a project reporting process, including KPI's for senior management
    • Lead the patent monitoring and review process with the Product Development team
  • Control
    • Improving internal control and monitoring internal systems
    • Full ownership of Stock (including stock takes, reporting stock age analysis), Overhead Recovery, Margins and Pricing
    • Optimising working capital and develop KPI's to help manage and monitor working capital
    • To ensure that all procedures in relation to accounting, warehousing and sales administration are followed
  • Systems
    • Improving overall accounting processes through improved efficiencies and process flows
    • Improving the timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting and compliance
    • Key involvement in review, select and implementation of new business ERP system
    • Ensure that both statutory and regulatory reporting requirements and systems and maintained and further developed where necessary

Profile
  • Qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience at finance management/director level
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and accounting
  • Strong understanding and experience in multinational financial operations with understanding of International Practice
  • Previous experience of partnering with senior management to drive growth, productivity and process improvements
  • Good command of English and computer literacy, including advanced knowledge of Excel and proficient with data extraction and management
  • Excellent financial modelling skills, lots of drive and initiative
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to be flexible and adapt work schedule to changing business demands
