Tradition is currently seeking to appoint a Head of Regulatory and External Affairs to be based within the London office.

Main responsibilities within the Head of Regulatory and External Affairs role include:

  • Identify and monitor regulatory policy developments.
  • Embed regulatory 'surveillance' mechanisms to ensure systematic identification of new or revised regulatory text
  • Provide insights, updates, and potential business impact analysis of these developments on the Company.
  • Oversee and coordinate regulatory reviews to ensure the Company proactively addresses regulatory requests and concerns;
  • Build a strong relationship with regulators to establish developments within the Company along with a good understanding of the views of the regulators.
  • Build a strong working relationship with internal auditors (PwC) and ensure that any external communications with them are managed.
  • Design and delivery of the regulatory engagement strategy for the Company
  • Lead regulatory process and policy change programmes with the senior management team and relevant departments to ensure the Company adheres to and is prepared for all regulatory legislation.
  • Manage the development of appropriate responses and remediation plans when regulatory issues and concerns are identified
  • Work closely with Senior managers, Compliance and controls divisions, to ensure consistent and clear communications internally and to regulators
  • Ensure the Company is well–prepared for all potential regulatory requests
  • Manage regulatory ad hoc projects
  • Drive effective communication strategies with regulators
  • Advise Senior Management on appropriate approaches to regulatory interactions
  • Provide guidance on presentations and other submissions provided to regulators
  • Present regulatory findings to Senior Management when required
  • Provide strategic insights and guidance on current and future regulatory policies

Key skills, experience and competencies required to be successful in this role:

  • Very strong communicator with a good knowledge of FCA,NFA and European NCA requirements
  • Ability to work with Senior management, auditors and external stakeholders
  • Strong regulatory focus preferably having worked in, or closely with, a regulator
  • Previous experience within the Finance sector preferably within wholesale broking
  • A strong network in the regulatory field
  • Ability to prepare strategy plans and present them to Senior Managers
  • Ability to implement a plan or change in policy and successfully deliver
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships
  • Able to deal with various complexities within a fast paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and solve problems and a desire to achieve a positive outcome
  • Ability to work independently and with initiative
  • Be willing to question and challenge the status quo with respect
