Project Manager HV/ MV Switchgear / Power Engineering

Established Power Engineering firm specialising in High and Low Voltage Switchgear, offering a range of solutions including Protection, Metering and Control equipment, with a nationwide reach. The company s current and historical portfolio includes clients such as London Underground Limited (TfL), Network Rail, Crossrail, Siemens, Cemex, Manchester City Football Club, British Sugar & Balfour Beatty where its services have included manufacturing, installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs and refurbishment.
The opportunity
You will take responsibility for delivering Power Engineering Contracts including tendering and managing resources and providing financial reporting to senior management. Managing the project team and assigning contracts and tenders to relevant engineers, you will deliver a contract from tendering stage through to invoicing and after sales. Preparing and submitting required documentation (i.e. Method Statements, Risk Assessments etc.), you will attend meetings with clients or other stakeholders to agree contracts and arrange site works etc. Requesting and leading regular internal production meetings while providing detailed input with the Project Team to identify and schedule any manufacturing and site works, you will produce resource plans to manage labour requirements. Preparing and issuing job packs to site teams and brief on job requirements, you will ensure all procurement is ordered correctly and delivered on time to prevent delays with projects. Arranging and attending Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing, you will develop new HV Product design and costing matrix along with HV and LV design. Providing Technical support for HV and LV Deliverables you will work with other Project Managers to deliver projects. Engaging in Contract negotiations and providing commercial support to project teams you will endeavour to maximise project efficiency and profitability. Determining project specifications and acquire necessary materials for completion, you will ensure that cash flow is monitored and acted upon by ensuring contract payment dates are achieved (clients & suppliers). Liaising internally with Senior Management, regularly reporting on forecasted and actual contract invoicing and cash flow, you will also provide CDM Support. Additionally you will assist the HSQE Department in the development of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 4500, Achilles Risqs and FORS accreditations including internal and third party audits, monitoring and reporting activities in accordance with the 9001 & 14001 standards.
The requirements
Coming from an Engineering background educationally, ideally you will possess 5 years + experience in the electrical power / switchgear industries, of which a minimum of 2 should have been managing projects. The significant HV switchgear experience should preferably be gained on Transport for London / London Underground or Network Rail projects. Experienced in organising site works, you will have possess sound commercial and negotiation skills in dealing with clients and suppliers alike. Dealing extensively with customers, you will fundamentally understand Switchgear and the principles of how it works as well as issues surrounding the installation and commissioning of Switchgear as a site based activity. Additionally experience in designing, manufacturing and delivering LV Switchgear to customer specifications would be highly advantageous. Proven experience of compliance, quality assurance, guide lines and best practice, you will possess excellent organisational and communication skills as well as being a critical thinker and risk management orientated, willing to take on tasks outside of this positions remit.
