Global engineering services group seeks a commercial lawyer to work within their Energy division and cover a 12 month maternity leave on a fixed term contract. This position can be undertaken remotely.

Responsibilities:
  • Reporting to the Chief Counsel you will support closely on a range of commercial, corporate and contract advice within their Energy division;
  • Reviewing, advising, drafting and negotiating material commercial and energy specific agreements including supply, agency, license and distribution agreements, cooperation and development agreements, joint ventures, and consortium agreements, confidentiality agreements, framework and teaming agreements etc.;
  • Support to tender submissions;
  • Advising on legal, commercial, governance and compliance (including Data Protection, Anti-Bribery and Modern Slavery) issues;
  • Assistance with setting the Group compliance agenda;
  • Support for any M&A activity within the division;
  • Provision of legal services and advice to all internal stakeholders;
  • Managing litigations, disputes and claims;
  • Instructing and liaising with external advisors.
We are looking for:
  • Qualified lawyer (England/Wales or Scotland preferred);
  • Sound knowledge of and practical experience in contract and commercial law;
  • Experience working with offshore, oil and gas, energy and renewables sector important
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both orally and the written word;
  • Capable of adapting legal advice to enable desired commercial outcomes;
  • Adept at delivering to tight timescales, while managing multiple cases simultaneously;
  • Self-starter, motivated and capable of operating outside comfort zone;
  • Flexible and good team worker, assisting as part of wider group legal team where necessary;
  • Confident in dealing directly and managing relationships with directors, senior managers, customers and suppliers.
