Director of Corporate Services

The role
Our client is seeking to appoint an exceptional Director of Corporate Services who is experienced in delivering complex cross organisational projects in a collaborative and effective manner.
This role plays an integral part in ensuring they are able to deliver on their core vision by providing strategic leadership to the Finance, HR and Business Support, and Compliance and Risk functions. Our client is looking for someone with a passion for their cause who can help drive their focus on supporting an inclusive, diverse culture and lead on all aspects relating to finances, risks, and people. This includes leading staff wellbeing work, ensuring efficient working environments across two offices and for hybrid and home-workers, as well as making sure the administrative functions are optimal, and that decision making processes and formal plans are clear, recorded and followed.
Reporting to the Chief Executive and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Corporate Services is integral to the overall management of the organisation and will lead, in line with their vision and values.
This role will require you to be based in the London or Birmingham office for minimum of one day per week.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- To work in conjunction with the SLT and Management Team (MT) to implement objectives as agreed by the trustees. - To line manage and provide exemplary support for HR and Business Support Finance, and Compliance and Risk, and the Executive Assistant Team Manager - Accountable – working with the Company Secretary – for the preparation of the annual report (and overseeing accounts production) and annual returns to Charity Commission, Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Companies House. - All aspects relating to people, including driving an inclusive, diverse, and effective culture, focussed on staff wellbeing and high performance, and in accordance with our client’s values. - Compliance with regulation and legislation and the effective and forward-looking management of risk, including using internal and external audit optimally. - Effective and collaborative ways of working, with optimal policies, processes and support for all colleagues, and safe, efficient working environments for office and home-workers, working in conjunction with the Head of IT
Skills
- Our client welcomes applications from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and from across the charity sector as well as the public or private sectors with appropriate transferrable skills and experience. - You will have significant experience of working at a senior level. - Qualified Accountant (CCAB) or equivalent qualified accountant (desirable). - Work collaboratively with other senior managers across all service areas to generate efficiencies, create synergies wherever possible and maximise outcomes. - Managing multi-disciplinary professional areas. - Excellent verbal and written skills including the ability to summarise complex, technical financial issues into concise reports and prepare complex, multi- faceted reports. - The ability to develop and manage relationships with senior stakeholders (internal and external). - Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills. - Proven experience of leading and managing complex, large-scale projects and service transformation.
