Our retained client is part of a well established and innovative group. A commercially astute CFO is required to partner the CEO and Executive Leadership Team in delivering a substantial exit over the next 3 to 5 years.

The Business

This is a pioneering business whose operations bring together a number of related business sectors –housebuilding, finance, investment and insurance.

The business’s risk reduction products are fast becoming a pre-requisite to gaining development finance for SME housebuilders. The business has already created substantial enterprise value but is fully focused on scaling up further as it delivers on its strategy to deliver a substantial exit or liquidity event over the next 3 to 5 years.

The Role

Working with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the CFO is a key leader in the business who maintains the business’s focus on drivers of long term value creation.

Key responsibilities encompass:
  • Strategy: contribute to the ongoing development of the business’s value creation strategy and associated implementation plans. Model and maintain short, medium and long term business plans Commercial Partnering: Provide commercially focused financial support and challenge to the CEO, ELT and across all functions of the business. Optimise performance of market facing teams through developing a data-driven approach to understanding and developing the sales pipeline. Build appropriate financial models and insight using such data analysis tools as are required Stakeholder Management: Build effective and trusting relationships with current and prospective investors, partners and providers of funding Cash: Build working capital and cashflow forecasting models and maintain robust control and visibility over cash, working capital and future funding requirements
The Candidate
  • Qualified accountant with a track record at senior level of successfully supporting profitable business growth and delivering value creation, ideally with experience of an exit transaction A commercially astute individual who embraces and balances risk with opportunity, able to think laterally and contribute effectively to the bigger picture while keeping hands on the detail Pragmatic, analytical (data-driven) team player, who enjoys working within a highly motivated team environment, and who gets things done A confident character with excellent communication, presentation and people skills able to constructively challenge (and be challenged). To support throughout the business and build strong and trusting relationships with external investors, funders and other external stakeholders Sound awareness of IT, systems and business processes A person who enjoys taking ownership and works to high personal standards of care
