ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an exciting time of significant change in our finance team where we are undergoing a transition to a centre of excellence. This role will provide you with an unique opportunity to support this transition, giving you autonomy to influence whilst doing so. Key responsibilities include:
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

ABOUT THE ROLE

- Manage four direct reports
- Review Group Reporting Packs prepared by the Financial Accounts team and ensure that all month end tasks are completed on a timely basis
- Review Balance Sheet Reconciliations prepared by team members
- Work collaboratively with the Group Tax department and any external tax advisors to ensure that tax accounting for the UK businesses complies with legislation; prepare tax returns
- Manage the UK audit alongside the Finance manager
- Manage the audit of the UK subsidiary companies
- Review statutory accounts prepared by Financial accounts team
- Act in partnership with staff in the business to ensure services provided by the Financial Accounts team support the business
- Review proposed payments to vendors and authors
- Represent UK Finance on key projects and initiatives
- Champion internal controls, identifying requirements and enforcing compliance.
- Proactively review systems and processes.

About You
If you are looking to gain experience in a complex and changing environment and are ready for a challenge this could be an excellent opportunity. The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Proven management and leadership skills, either as a manager of direct reports, or through supervising staff
- Good understanding of financial reporting standards, tax and VAT legislation
- The ability to work in a multi–divisional group with international branches / subsidiaries and in a Centre of Excellence environment
- Understanding of internal controls, and commitment to compliance
- Ability to manage a complex workload with multiple stakeholders and deadlines
- Confident communicator with proven experience of negotiating, persuading and influencing at all levels
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels of seniority and across different cultures
- Be a qualified Accountant (qualified by experience candidates will also be considered).
