Responsible for providing technical support to the Toxicology team working alongside the Head of R&D, Method Development & Quality. Proficient, to a legally defensible standard, in techniques such as immunoassay, LLE, SLE, and liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry.

Description

As a forensic toxicology toxicologist in this position you will be responsible for:

  • Investigate research and development tasks, developing processes and new techniques.
  • Providing high quality technical, scientific, and regulatory advice, including formulation of new methodologies within the Toxicology team.
  • Preparing proposals and justifications for new laboratory services and instrumentation.
  • Project managing and delivering finished documents to support UKAS ETS requirements and ensure lean implementation of new methods into team workflow models.
  • Planning and executing toxicology project work, leading on method validations and verifications as requested.
  • Developing, implementing, and actively monitoring a comprehensive, effective laboratory quality programme. Ensuring timely and efficient delivery of quality laboratory results.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR, ISO17025, Lab 51 and ISO9001 in addition to all departmental procedures, policies, and protocols.
  • Training and development of junior members of the toxicology team.

Profile

A successful forensic toxicologist operating in this capacity will be expected to have:

  • Degree in a relevant scientific discipline
  • Experience working in a laboratory based ISO17025 environment
  • Experience of method development from idea conception; to a fully accredited laboratory process.
  • LC–MS–MS experience
  • Project management experience
  • Experience of Toxicology instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
  • QTOF experience
