Job Title: HR Business Partner – Part Time

Location: Coventry

Hours: Part–time, 4 or 5 days per week (26 hours), including 1 day remote working

Role Purpose

The HR Business Partner will be responsible for providing business focused practical advice, guidance and coaching on all employee relations activities to business management teams. This position will also focus on supporting organisational change and delivering strategic HR objectives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To provide dedicated advice, support and guidance on employee relations issues, in line with the People Charter, which includes but is not limited to:
  1. Sickness absence
  2. Disciplinary investigations, hearings and appeals
  3. Grievance investigations, outcomes and appeals
  4. Performance management
  5. Business restructures and reorganisations
  6. Mobilisation and demobilisation of contracts (TUPE)
  • Manage, coach and develop the HR Officer to deliver technical, comprehensive and business–focused ER advice and guidance.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and supporting documents in response to business requirements and in line with relevant legislation.
  • Support recruitment campaigns for salaried vacancies, ensuring they are progressed without delay and in line with best practice, Company values and employment law. Attend second stage interviews where required.
  • Conduct exit interviews for salaried leavers and co–ordinate regular reports and analysis relating to staff retention.
  • Undertake HR audits, identifying any actions and agree a follow–up plan with the key stakeholders.
  • Prepare and issue appropriate contractual documentation to employees in relation to appointments, terminations and variations to terms and conditions, in line with statutory timescales.
  • Ensure HR policies, procedures and supporting documents are communicated appropriately; ensuring key information is delivered to supervisors and managers in an effective manner.
  • Prepare and deliver workshops and one to one coaching sessions for supervisors and managers on a range of employee relations matters.
  • Effectively collate and monitor KPIs, analyse trends and identify remedial action to facilitate a proactive HR approach with key stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Plant Manager and Functional Heads to ensure any employee relations matters are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Lead and co–ordinate any Employment Tribunals, liaising with key stakeholders and Company solicitors where necessary.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or proven experience to demonstrate level of competence.
  • Up to date employment law knowledge and can demonstrate practical application of legislation.
  • Thorough and up–to–date knowledge of good HR practice and its application
  • Experience of working in a generalist role, managing a high volume of ER casework
  • Previous experience of working with Trade Unions.
  • Previous experience working with variety of management levels.
  • High level of written and oral communication
  • Ability to deal with sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy, whilst maintaining confidentiality.
  • Excellent IT skills with strong abilities in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Strong time management, an ability to prioritise and work to deadlines within a changing environment.
  • Ability to influence senior managers in a diplomatic and appropriately assertive manner.
  • Ability to analyse situations, make independent judgements.
  • Ability to follow through situations.
  • Ability to work in a consultative and structured environment.
  • Proactive and enthusiastic.
  • Commitment to continued professional development.
  • Ability to deal with confrontational situations and stand ground when faced with adversity
  • Resilient with the ability to deal with difficult situations.

Desirable

  • A relevant degree qualification (e.g. Employment Law)
  • CIPD Qualified – Business will support with gaining this qualification
  • Advanced knowledge of current employment law
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry
  • Previous experience of working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to travel to different sites, if required.
