Our client, a Defence contractor is looking for a Engineering Project Manager to join them on a initial 6–month contract at their site in Farnborough.
- Due to the nature of the role we are only able to consider sole British Nationals and you must either hold valid SC Clearance or be eligible to obtain this.
- Hybrid working, 2–3 days a week onsite in Farnborough.
- 550 p/d Umbrella, inside IR35.
Job Description:
The Project Management function delivers the project team with leadership, planning, motivation, understanding and experience. The function is accountable for the performance (to time, quality, cost and/or as–bid Gross Margin) of the project and manages project elements, including, but not limited to, schedule, cost, resources and risks.
Responsibilities / Deliverables:
- Delivery of reviewed and signed–off system design documentation by the customer
- Creation and maintenance of project management documentation in accordance with best practice methodologies
- Delivery and customer sign–off of a preliminary design review for the system
- Delivery and customer sign–off of a critical design review for the system
- Delivery and customer sign–off of a Test Readiness Review for the system
- Delivery and customer sign–off of a Factory Acceptance Test for the system
- Delivery and customer sign–off of a Site Acceptance Test for the system
- Project closedown workshop and report
- All reviews to meet IEEE Std (phone number removed)
- All project management documentation to meet APM standards
A contractor in this post applies technical / professional knowledge, making independent judgements based on practice and significant previous experience to support decision making. Often seen as a referral point to escalate more complex problems. Roles will act independently with minimal guidance.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Essential
- APM, Prince 2 or equivalent;
- Agile qualification and experience;
- RF and Communications experience;
- Managed development of complex electronic backplane based systems involving hardware, firmware and software;
- Builds stakeholder relationships;
- Well organised and confident individual able to take the lead on business issues;
- Demonstrate the ability to identify and mitigate risk;
- Can think laterally to resolve issues and disputes;
- Good communication – oral and written;
- Ability to effectively liaise with internal and external customers and stakeholders;
- Works effectively in a team;
- Self–motivated and proactively able to manage own work to in order to achieve objectives;
- Use own initiative within the scope of the role;
- Plans work, attention to detail whilst meeting deadlines;
- Demonstrates a high level of integrity and inspires trust;
- Ability to identify and develop solutions to problems;
- Good application of Microsoft packages and relevant software
