Head of Compliance

Cenrtal UK – West Midlands

Multitask Personnel are working alongside a National Facilities Management company who provide a leading maintenance, engineering, technical procurement & support in dedicated partnerships with National Blue–Chip companies.

We are working alongside them to recruit a Head of Compliance; you will be ultimately accountable for maintaining accreditation within the company, overseeing operating procedures, promoting and ensuring a safe and compliant working environment across all of their customer accounts.

Key responsibilities for a Head of Compliance include:

Safety

  • Develop and oversee control systems which minimise the risk of non–compliance, whether this be legislative, regulatory, company or client;
  • Periodically conduct audits and reviews to ensure execution of compliance standards;

People

  • Write policies and guidance that educate others on how to improve compliance;

Excellence

  • Monitor and oversee compliance, driving improvement across the business through effective influence, challenge and guidance to the operational teams;
  • Evaluate the efficiency of controls and drive continuous improvement;

Service

  • Develop a strategy and ways of working to ensure that all planned compliance tasks are carried out in a timely manner and schedules are adhered to;
  • Develop and implement reporting tools, monitoring and methodologies which will evidence compliance performance, both internally and externally;
  • Support the operational teams in managing any non–compliance, acting as subject matter expert, conducting investigations to discover the root cause of any issues to prevent recurrence;
  • Regularly scrutinise certification provided by third party suppliers and technicians, by carrying out a sample check of at least 5% of certification on a monthly basis;
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments and environmental standards, evolving best practices in compliance control;
  • Support business development activity to identify possible compliance risks;
  • Act as principle duty holder / EQS for NICEIC accreditation.

Skills and Experience for a Head of Compliance include:

  • Educated to GCSE / Standard Grade level as a minimum, ideally NVQ Level 3/City and guilds 236 Part 1 + 2 or equivalent in electrical installation/Maintenance.
  • City and Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing
  • City and Guilds th Edition.
  • A working knowledge of the maintenance service within the FM industry is essential, with previous working knowledge of a multi–client contracted environment being desirable; and PPM and compliance background.
  • Previous experience of effectively leading and managing a team is essential.
  • Previous experience of developing client relationships at a senior level would be advantageous
  • Strong PC literacy, with experience in extracting, collating and presenting performance data along with a good understanding of the CAFM systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent planning, organising, prioritisation and project management skills
  • Strong results focus, takes accountability for own performance and that of the team
  • Effective problem–solving and decision–making
  • Highly flexible and self–starting. The role will have many challenges and a flexible approach will be needed.
