Technical Director – Planning applications

Excellent opportunity to join a growing National Consultancy that is now looking for an additional Leader in their Cardiff office.

Location: Cardiff

Hybrid working, 2 – 3 days in the office and 2 – 3 days working remotely from home.

Salary: 60,000 – 70,000 basic + Car / Allowance + Package

Role:

The Resolute Group is working in partnership with a National Consultancy which is growing across the UK, Ireland, and Europe. As part of a growing and agile business, they are looking for an additional leader for their Planning application team. Someone that has developed their career from a Planning Consultant into large planning schemes. Supporting the planning application process for new build developments and Energy schemes such as Solar / Battery storage / Wind farm.

You will work collaboratively with a range of technical specialists on a huge variety of projects, and lead and coordinate the planning process from application through to approval. Establish strong client relationships, develop new areas of business, and mentor others in the team.

You'll be instrumental in improving the planning performance and delivering impact assessments for a diverse range of projects, such as large–scale energy and infrastructure, mixed–use developments for private and public clients, public realm, and master planning projects.

Day–to–day duties will change depending on the projects and clients but could include:

  • Leading the coordination and delivery of the planning application process, working alongside the Environmental planning team that undertakes the EIA assessments.
  • Proactively managing selected project applications, taking responsibility for resource allocation, and stakeholder management with all the respective parties.
  • Lead and support tender proposals/ bids – working as part of a project–winning team if your Planning expertise is required.
  • Providing Planning & Consent advice and support to clients and colleagues.
  • Ensuring added value for clients
  • Creating reports to both internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Excellent knowledge of Planning practices and procedures, including case law, and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles.
  • Practical working knowledge of the UK planning system and consenting process
  • Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills with experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality
  • Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management and quality assurance
  • Degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working towards it.
  • A valid UK driving licence
