I am delighted to be recruiting for one of my key London based Charity clients, who are looking for an experienced and flexible Interim Financial Accountant for a 3–4 month contract.

In summary, your role will be to ensure the provision of a high quality financial accounting service that supports the effective and efficient management of the organisation's financial resources. You will work as an integral part of the finance function, supporting country offices with accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and processes, and internal/external reporting requirements, as well as managing project audits.

To secure this role, you will be able to demonstrate that you are an experienced financial accountant, have international charity experience and can show where you have supported finance colleagues remotely and effectively.

Please see below for more detail about what financial accounting and transactional support you will be required to provide to the country offices:

    • Treasury management, including processing cash transfer requests from country offices and managing bank reconciliations
    • Managing statutory and project level audits in collaboration with country offices, including providing audit documentation archived centrally
    • Providing support to resolve the assigned financial queries through the finance support desk portal.

Other duties will include:

  • Assisting with the global year end account preparation, coordinating with country offices to ensure that the year end accounts milestone deliverables and schedules are produced in a timely and accurate manner
  • Delivering the month end closure process, analysing transactions and preparing required journals
  • Reviewing and reconciling assigned balance sheet accounts at global level, such as intercompany accounts
  • Carrying out monthly assurance reviews of country office Monthly Checklists, providing feedback to key stakeholders on the outcome of the reviews
  • Working with other members of the Control & Assurance team to develop a central dashboard to report on the monthly assurance review

Strong communication skills are a must for this role, as is the ability to build relationships quickly and effectively at all levels – this role ultimately requires a very "hands on, roll your sleeves up" kind of approach and will involve both financial and management accounting work, including complex reconciliation work at a high level.

The client uses Access Dimensions and SAP, but it is not essential that you have experience of these – advanced Excel skills are essential.
