Business Analyst

Duration – 6 Months

Location – Ipswich / Remote

Summary

My high–profile utilities client is looking for a Business Analyst to join their team based in their Ipswich offices on a hybrid basis (2 days a week on site) on an initial 6–month contract with chance of extensions.

As Business Analyst you will be a member of the Commercial Transformation Department, you will facilitate the inception, planning and delivery of strategic change; you will also provide input around success measures and KPIs to ensure we drive against business value, success measures and KPIs.

Key Accountabilities:

Develop compelling and robust business cases founded on accurate root cause analysis; supported by detailed impact analysis, evidence–based decision making and benefits measurement.

Elicit, manage, communicate and champion business, stakeholder and regulatory to ensure change is delivered appropriately and in alignment with stakeholder expectations.

Undertake design activities to facilitate the development of change throughout the SDLC.

Work with stakeholders to establish quantifiable business benefits and identify means of tracking benefits realisation.

Model AS–IS and TO–BE processes to assess impacts to people, data and systems and determine approaches to elicit associated stakeholder and system requirements.

Work closely with business partners and teams to facilitate the structuring and resourcing of change projects and programmes.

Facilitate the prioritisation of the Commercial Transformation portfolio, and strategic roadmap and value stream mapping related activities, to ensure business value is delivered in a controlled and targeted manner.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

Demonstrable experience as a Business Analyst.

Experience of working across UK electricity, biomass, logistics or sales industries (e.g. communication networks, golden threads, working practices, and the role of energy industry participants etc).

Understanding of core electricity and/or gas supplier functions and processes (e.g. Pricing, CoT, MPA, Billing etc).

Strong experience in building robust business cases or systems analysis skills including SQL and data modelling.

Experience in working within an agile SDLC is highly desirable; experience in writing epics, features and user stories along with working alongside developers and testers within the SDLC phases.

Skilled written and verbal communicator with strong listening skills.

Strong stakeholder management experience with the ability to manage conflicting requirements and the confidence to obtain a suitable agreement to move forward.

Organised and structured; must be able to deal with a range of project documentation, keeping it up to date and relevant in a timely manner.

Able to assimilate large volumes of data and translate into business problems, requirements and solutions, making recommendations based on understanding of stakeholder needs and constraints that are in place.

Confidence in facilitating and documenting workshops, demonstrations, presentation and meetings to either elicit or deliver information to an audience of all business levels.

Resilience and flexibility to adapt to ever changing requirements as the business experiences a continued period of growth with a willingness to support on activity beyond a traditional BA role.

Experience working within adaptive, evolving teams constantly aiming to improve performance within commercial restraints.

Ability to maintain performance and cope well under pressure.

Strong Microsoft Office skills.

Experience undertaking business analysis activities within a strategic Business Change function.
