Connect2Luton are excited to recruit a Head of Asset Management.

Main purpose of position:

The purpose of this role is to manage the assets of the DART entity, creating maximum value over the life of the assets and developing with our sub–contractor maintenance plans that minimise cost whilst protecting the assets. The role provides assurance that all maintenance is carried out in line with the plans and procedures agreed and passenger safety is guaranteed and customer satisfaction is maximised. A further aspect will be to identify and report on assets whose lifespan is departing from what is expected and to make appropriate recommendations to either extend their life, or plan a replacement or upgrade, ensuring safety aspects are given full consideration.

The role covers the oversight of all of the assets, whether managed by DART contractors or its suppliers and will involve the supervision & management of the Transportation Systems Manager and the Facilities Management Systems Manager, once these positions are filled.

A strong focus of the role will be the consolidation of two differing Asset Management systems, including ensuring that both have been populated to the correct level of granularity by the relevant contractors and that reports are designed to manage the assets in a controlled and safe manner.

As a Head of Asset Management, you will be responsible to:

  • Develop and manage an asset management system aligned compliant with ISO 55001.
  • Set up an umbrella management database to manage the two diverse Asset Management systems used by the Station and Civil structures O&M contractor and the Transportation Systems O&M contractor.
  • Manage the Asset Management Database(s) ensuring the optimisation of asset performance and the prolongation of asset lives, together with developing and providing appropriate reports to the DART General Manager, designed to enhance decision making.
  • Approve all maintenance plans of the contractors and deliver assurance that all maintenance is carried out in compliance with those plans.
  • Accountable for the technical safety of the DART.
  • Liaising with the HSQE Manager as appropriate to ensure risks are identified and mitigated before they become issues.
  • Liaise with contractors on the physical change management & the maintenance change management.
  • Lead to Asset management team ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained at all times.
  • Responsible for technical innovation within the DART entity, with particular focus on enhancing the customer experience.
  • Provide clear, timely, relevant and comprehensible professional advice and support to the General Manager DART, ensuring that they are well informed, and able to discharge their duties and secure successful outcomes in pursuit of the company's business aspirations

Skills and Experience

  • Recent and successful experience of managing Civil, and Mechanical–Electrical assets in situations where external contractors are crucial in the company's success.
  • Experience of effective working with a broad range of partners and stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining an ISO 55001 compliant asset management system.
  • Able to work effectively with partners demonstrating drive and passion to understand and achieve joint goals and objectives, sharing information and valuing others experience and expertise.
  • Able to influence people without having the formal power. Able to build relationships at all levels of an organisation (including those of contractors).
  • Able to provide visible and visionary leadership that persuades people to perform to the highest level.
  • Able to grasp and comprehend a situation, its component parts and implications, and find and organise practical and effective resolutions by making and acting on sound decisions.
  • Able to design and implement appropriate reports to ensure that all appropriate key performance indicators can be monitored in a meaningful way.
  • Able to understand and apply business and commercial principles to the operation, considering costs, profits, markets and added value.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of equality issues and legislation and, in particular, how they impact on work with communities – able to integrate equality policies into business plans, strategies, service delivery and employment practices.
  • Good knowledge of ISO standard 55000 and how this is implemented in practice.
  • A degree in Civil or Electro Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Alternatively equivalent knowledge gained through substantial relevant experience.
