The Client

Our Client supplies bespoke joinery to the commercial, leisure, healthcare, education and fit–out sectors. They design, manufacture, and install internal bespoke joinery and acoustic panelling as well as a range of fire–rated and specialists doorsets.

The Role

an exciting opportunity for a BD Manager to join an established Joinery Sub–Contractor. The company are going through a period of growth and is an interesting time to join them.

You will help facilitate that growth through maximizing opportunities with their current clients and looking to add to that list. Initially there are several prestigious main contractors that they currently work with, and they are looking for you to build relationships with them and target new opportunities with additional companies.

The business development manager is responsible for planning and implementing sales & marketing towards existing and new customers & markets by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Along with the board, you will develop the sales & marketing strategy and take responsibility for its delivery.

You

  • Ideally you will have previous experience selling bespoke joinery or doorset packages to main contractors, although someone with a strong sub–contractor background from a different sector would be considered.
  • Proven experience in maximising opportunities with clients.
  • Ideally used to winning work in roughly the GBP1–2 Million bracket.
  • The client is open to your location but ideally be within commutable distance to London for client visits.
  • Solid strategic background, looking to identify good opportunities and building a long term sales plan.

The role

  • Lead the development of sales and marketing strategy using own knowledge and experience to guide the board.
  • Establish delivery plan for the strategy and carry out against agreed KPIs including margin as well as revenue.
  • Thoroughly understand the needs of the business through discussions internally with all stakeholders, including workshop skillsets, work type mix. This is dynamic and needs ongoing review.
  • Work closely with Estimating team, targeting appropriate opportunities.
  • Manage relationship with outsourced marketing team to deliver strategy.

Sales

  • Establish measures for monitoring success alongside Pipedrive Software
  • Systematically approach target clients to determine their wants/needs and tailor strategy for each to suit.
  • Competitor analysis to understand what they do and don't do.
  • Monitor spend for each Client on an annual basis to review against targets.
  • Structured sales management with appropriate meetings to set updates and actions for the coming week, weekly review report to measure and a monthly sales meeting to overarch strategy.
  • Gain an understanding of qualification of all enquiries against current strategy. Quality enquiries required not quantity.
  • Identify, arrange and attend appointments with Key Stakeholders in Businesses and Region treating each Business region as a potential separate company and lead.
  • Use existing and Develop supplier relationships to assist with leads and encourage partnering. Doorset and Ironmongery suppliers are often a good source of leads and upcoming projects.
  • Prepare and present BDM reports detailing sales, potential sales including researched and evidence backed proposal for changes to strategy.
  • Keep in contact with project managers (or most appropriate person) to gather detailed feedback on performance on schemes and keep existing relationships with site teams tracking their next projects and even where they go if they move to a new business. A Key Client moving to a new business is often a new way of finding new business, new client and increasing our turnover.
  • Monitor quality of feedback following tender submission to qualify clients with estimating team.
  • Identify and understand client s business needs and objectives to develop marketing and sales campaigns.
  • Designs sales campaigns and other activities to meet the allocated targets.
  • Cross sell alternative products into positively qualified enquiries.
