A leading independent insurance broker require a Group Accountant to be responsible for preparing management and external reporting for the Group on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis as required. The role will also be responsible for supporting the fund finance activities of the Group in and associated investment funds.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual reporting in meeting internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Maintaining the books and records by:
    • o Preparing journals (including fair value adjustments, payroll, corporate costs & recharges, legal and other adviser fees, and employee benefit trusts);
    • o Submitting general ledger postings;
    • o Completing bank and intercompany reconciliations;
    • o Preparing account reconciliations and collating supporting data as required;
    • o Updating the lease accounting system for leases held by the Tara Group; and
    • o Preparing statutory accounts.
  • Preparing valuations, based on standard valuation models, to support investment entity accounting for insurance, non-insurance and venture capital equity investments and loan/ convertible loan investments.
  • Supporting the Technical and Group Accounting Controller to design and implement new accounting processes as required due to new bank accounts and other activities.
  • Supporting the Group by:
    • o Liaising with fund managers and administrators to structure and set up funds;
    • o Managing know your customer requests and regulatory compliance;
    • o Supporting fund operations including net asset valuation reporting and drawing fees; and
    • o Set up of bank accounts as required, monitoring transactions, and completion of bank reconciliations.
  • Assisting with ad-hoc tasks

Skills & Experience
Essential
  • Big 4 (within external audit) with industry experience.
  • IFRS technical accounting/ accounting policy experience (IFRS, FRS 102 and FRS 101).
  • Ability to write well, and strong communication skills generally.
  • Valuations and/ or investment entity accounting experience.
  • Adaptability, ability to embrace and respond positively to change.
  • Analytical and investigative skills, logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Education & Qualifications
Essential:
  • Qualified ACA (or equivalent), with relevant fund experience.
  • Initiative, proactivity, enquiring approach, resourcefulness.
  • Strong Excel skills.


The salary for the role pays £55,000 - £70,000
