Mech Tech Professionals is actively recruiting for a Senior Project Manager for our niche nuclear client with offices across the UK.

Our client provides customers with very high added–value solutions, products, technologies and services across principal business units to include mining, recycling, decommissioning services and nuclear packages, services and projects.

Our client employs over 16,000 people across Europe, the UK, North America, Asia and the Far East.

Reporting to the Head of Projects, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the projects are delivered to set objectives in relation to time, cost and quality. A SQEP resource will be available allowing a single point of management contact with the customer.

This position can be either based at Abingdon or Warrington areas

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring successful delivery of a Portfolio of projects of varying value and complexity
  • Ensuring successful financial performance and risk management
  • Managing and supporting Customer and Stakeholder groups through reviews and progress meetings
  • Managing negotiations with Customer/Stakeholder/Sub–Contractor
  • Continuously drive efficiency and best practice, aligning local processes and procedures as applicable
  • Identify any issues, concerns that either have the potential or will impact the project baseline, and implement effective risk mitigation strategies!

The preferred role requirements are as follows:

  • Hold SC UK Security Clearance or willing to obtain.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years relevant experience as a Project Manager on a Nuclear site of highly regulated site
  • Have previous experience of managing high value projects.
  • Have a degree in Project Management or relevant field
  • Be a member of a recognised professional institution and a chartered status or equivalent professional status is preferred
  • Understand the principles and practices of planning, risk and cost management at programme and project levels
  • Have awareness of the stage–gate principles of project delivery

This role requires close working relationships with other internal staff as well as external staff at client sites which will require regular travel to these sites, depending on projects.
