Title: Head of Projects and PlacemakingClient: Dudley Metropolitan borough councilRate: GBP500 (max inside per day)Duration: 12 monthsRole
Strategic role providing strong leadership in a matrix environment to promote best practice in managing interrelated projects and programmes to ensure successful delivery the pipeline of key strategic regeneration projects and strategies. The role will directly manage and develop a multi–disciplinary team that will, as required for major projects manage the processes and procedures in place; develop project plans including key milestones, critical interdependencies, and project risks and where required provide Project Management services and procurement support It expected that role and service area will consider the Climate Crisis and how any projects will contribute towards the councils aim to be Net Carbon Zero.Duties:
- Lead, manage and co–ordinate a defined service area(s) or service function(s) with full operational responsibility and accountability.
- Effectively manage a multi–disciplinary team including all HR, financial and technological resources to provide and/or commission high quality services that meet the needs of Dudley's residents and provide excellence in client and customer service.
- Ensure effective and high quality business and service planning processes, including setting, monitoring and recording of delivery against clearly defined objectives and outcomes and in accordance with corporate requirements.
- Ensure that the service(s) meet expectations and achieves service objectives through adopting a proactive, positive and effective approach to performance management at individual and service level.
- To work in conjunction with other Local Authorities, the third sector and other agencies to explore new and innovative approaches to service delivery.
- Exercise any delegated statutory powers allocated to the post holder in accordance with the Council's Constitution.
- Promote and implement good employment policy and practice ensuring that individuals are effectively performance managed; supported in their professional development and fully equipped to deliver service expectations. This also includes services not within the potholder's remit, personally conducting investigations for grievance, disciplinary and redundancy cases and chairing decision–making panels.
