Our client is a leading, internationally recognised, Commodity trading Group.
The role will suit an experienced Project/Programme Manager who has knowledge and experience of Commodity or Financial Trading, especially in the energy trading sector.
Key attributes include a solid understanding of core project management disciplines, alongside a pragmatic approach and willingness to be "hands–on" as necessary. Knowledge and experience of UK Corporate Reform (UK CR) and/or US Sarbanes–Oxley (SOX) ideal, but not essential.
The Group is embarking on an initiative to ensure adherence to forthcoming UK Corporate Reform (UK CR) regulation. The Oil & Gas division has several initiatives linked to UK CR to be scoped, overseen, and delivered in the coming 12–18 months. A level of rigor, co–ordination and project management is required to progress in an efficient and effective manner.
The immediate need is for a PM to manage the Oil Division's activities related to UK CR projects. These include:
- Implementation of required structural changes to ensure appropriate segregation of duties
- Implementation of enhancements to processes and procedures
- Upgrade and enhancement to existing systems and data platforms
The role is based in London but covers global Oil Division delivery in the three main offices (London, New York, Singapore).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS FOLLOWS:
- Project Management of one or more projects to ensure delivery to time, budget and quality standards.
- Stakeholder management associated with managing a project, including status reporting, and running of steering groups.
- Collaboration with Oil Division Business stakeholders and IT Product Owners to develop project proposals and agree project scopes.
- Collaboration with the Group UK CR Project Managers and Consultants to ensure alignment between Divisions.
- Oversight / management of internal delivery resources associated with the project(s)
- Any other ad hoc duties that may be required from time to time.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Degree–educated or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of the project lifecycle and appreciation of different project methodologies and their applicability.
- Skilled in general project management disciplines: planning and tracking, time, and task management, risk and issue management, stakeholder engagement (internal and external)
- Strong influencing skills and excellent team player.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with all levels of the business.
- Delivery and customer focused: deliver every time to high standards – time, quality, efficiency, and value.
- Project Management experience including delivering Business & IT projects with some complexity.
- Experience of working in a Commodity (ideally) or Financial Trading environment.
- Knowledge and experience of UK Corporate Reform (UKCR) and/or US Sarbanes–Oxley (SOX) ideal, but not essential.
- Prince II or PMI qualifications an advantage but not a pre–requisite
- Experience in project management in Agile environments, with geographically dispersed teams
- Skilled user of MS Project and MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
