Cost Accountant for Manufacturing organisation in Harlow

Your new role
Directly reporting into the Financial Controller, the focus of this role is to take ownership of the current Costing System and to ensure that the product standard costs closely reflect actual costs. You should have experience working within a similar Costing focused role within a Manufacturing environment. To be responsible for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis and tracing costs back to underlying activities. You will also have the opportunity to construct and monitor data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management.

  • Manage and maintain Bills of Manufacture
  • Implement change management protocols for the updating of costs
  • Calculation of costs for new products taking into account material cost, labour costs and relevant overheads.
  • Manage the product profitability analysis
  • Update the costings of existing products to account for changes in currency exchange rates, staff pay, supplier prices, methods etc.
  • Respond quickly to internal requests to provide new or updated costings.
  • Compare standard costs to current costs and evaluate impact.
  • Manage standard costs updates: roll across and roll up.
  • Prepare and reconcile sales and gross profit analysis
  • Validate the cost of goods sold as part of month-end close
  • Liaise with the sales department to understand differences to forecast and budget.
  • Analyse labour efficiency
  • Evaluate job variances to assess accuracy of the standard costs
