Salary Range: GBP60,000 to GBP75,000 salary + bonus

Location: Saffron Walden, Essex

Jonathan Lee have been exclusively retained to recruit a Financial Controller on a permanent basis with a fast growth SME manufacturing subsidiary of a PLC. Reporting in to the Divisional Managing Director and working out of Saffron Walden in North West Essex, the Financial Controller will be paid a salary in the region of GBP55,000 to GBP70,000 (depending on level of experience) + benefits and bonus.

This is a challenging Senior Management level role at the heart of this growing specialist manufacturer which focuses on products and services to the Rail, Aviation and Power industries. To take responsibility for all finance processes and the finance team, rapidly developing systems and processes to support the growth of the business as it recovers from the COVID era slow–down in Transportation industries. With a record order–book and an excellent management team, the business is seeking a strong addition to the Executive team.

We are open to considering Part Qualified, Qualified or Qualified By Experience Accountants who have the right skills and experience to be considered.

The Financial Controller will be required to:

• Drive the open information culture, defining and delivering strategy for improved Finance processes, functionality and company profitability
• Work closely with other Managers to support high quality decision making and change
• Manage a full upgrade of systems and processes, which are currently run on Excel based spreadsheets supported by MRP data from Infor XA and ledgers in Sage 50. Expert knowledge of Excel is therefore a requirement and competency in Power Query and Power BI would be a significant benefit.
• Analysis and reporting of production variances, labour, machine and materials
• Working with all areas of the business to improve quality, productivity, efficiency, profitability initially through cost/profit centre reporting
• Calculation and review of standard labour and overhead recovery rates
• Supervision of the finance team
• Forecasting, reporting, KPI's and action tracking and controls within financial remit
• Overview of payroll, PAYE and VAT including imports and exports
• Control inventory including overhead absorption, impairment and recognition
• Prepare and review investment proposals inc. payback calculations
• Broad interfacing with all areas in the manufacturing business to support decision making, managers and risk control
