Head of Health and Safety

Dawson Levy Resourcing are proud to be recruiting for a Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing to join a leading Water Organisation on a permanent basis. The role is a hybrid role and you can be based from anywhere in or around London.

What you will be doing

Currently, two roles are available in the business one will be responsible for North London areas and the other will be responsible for Thames Valley and the Home Counties.

This is vital to the business, which is promoted alongside the Health, Safety & Well–being Director. You'll also be working with other Heads of Health, Safety, and Well–being on the evolution and delivery of Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Strategy for employees, customers, and the environment around us.

This role requires someone who is a strong principal and passionate about the Health, Safety, and well–being industry to guide the teams effectively within the London Operations area.

The Main Accountabilities of the Role will be –

• Lead with consultation and collaboration with the Health Safety and Wellbeing Director and other Heads of Areas within the Health Safety and well–being strategy and delivery plan
• In collaboration with the Head of Health Safety and Wellbeing Systems, Stakeholders and Support take ownership of relevant risks from the risk register and relevant elements of the Safety management system to ensure that all risks are appropriately managed
• Drive continual improvement in Health Safety and Well–being Using innovative solutions to positively impact safety and drive efficiency.
• Use clear leading and lagging indicators to baseline and track performance. Strengthen the management of investigations to ensure effective root cause exploration and effective implementation of preventative and corrective actions.
• Steer the Business Partner Pool to ensure delivery of the wider Health Safety and Wellbeing plan to provide seamless, consistent support, covering all operational business units in the area you are responsible for.
• Lead the Independent Authorisation Board, ensuring the development and delivery of plans to assure authorisation of sewer entry.
• Liaise and build valuable internal relationships and externally with supply chain partners and regulators to improve standards and Health Safety and Well–being performance

What you should bring to the role

• National Examination Board in Occupations Safety and Health Diploma or equivalent
• Ideally a chartered health and safety professional member with at least 5 years post–qualification experience.
• Extensive track record of working in a senior health & safety role within the water, the utilities, or critical national infrastructure environment. Ideally with some process safety experience.
• Demonstrable evidence of steering change and driving continuous improvement in Health and safety standards and performance
• Knowledge and experience in Human Factors, Behavioural Safety, and Culture Change with tangible results
• Ability to assess situations and appropriately prioritise key information and issues
• Clear people management ability and a record of improving employee engagement.
• In–depth knowledge of Health and safety legislation, best practice, and their practical application.
• Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
