Director of Corporate Communications

At Stark Building Materials UK we are looking for a Director of Corporate Communications to join our organisation during a period of exciting transformation and development.

In this role you will report directly to the CEO and will lead a team of three. You will be responsible for the creation and distribution of our internal and external communications throughout the UK. You will also be responsible for implementing and developing our communication strategy plan to bring our brands to life for our employees and talent as well as our wider stakeholders.

This role is part of the STARK Group. We are a leading building materials distributor in Northern Europe. We connect suppliers of heavy building materials with the professional craftsmen who build, renovate, and maintain the cities of tomorrow.

What will I be doing in the role?

The Director of Corporate Communications will lead the Corporate Communication team, and act as a brand guardian. You will be responsible for internal and external communications to drive support from our stakeholders ensuring they trust us, recommend us and want to work with us.

Some key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead on corporate communications in the UK, developing and overseeing the the execution of communications to support our brand portfolio
  • Establishing a communications strategy aligned to our purpose and strategic priorities
  • Building strong relationships and engagement with colleagues, business partners, and local communities through communications
  • Be a trusted advisor to – and support the Chief Executive Officer and other members of the leadership team on communications issues and opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with, and provide guidance and support to our brand marketing teams
  • Actively seek an in–depth understanding of the company's objectives and priorities
  • Build and maintain effective internal and external communications channels including colleague events (e.g., townhall meetings/conferences/roadshows), intranet, social media, media and journalist outreach etc.
  • Manage the corporate communications annual budget in a responsible and cost–effective manner
  • Act as a key spokesperson and media liaison for Stark Building Materials UK

We are looking for a highly experienced communications professional with the passion to implement and drive our new corporate strategy.

The ideal candidate will have qualifications and experience encompassing all or many of the below:

  • Senior level communications professional with proven relevant experience, including jobs in similar communications positions
  • Excellent communications and storytelling skills
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing an effective corporate communications strategy
  • Good understanding of all aspects of corporate strategy including core communications principles, techniques and skills
  • Experience in successful management of external stakeholders and ability to successfully collaborate and build relationships
  • Experience of people management Matrix experience in an international environment
  • Change management experience would be very beneficial
