Work that works for you
Grant Thornton's Agile Talent Community is a network of contract professionals, giving you the opportunity to work with our clients and alongside Grant Thornton teams on a project–by–project basis whilst being supported by our dedicated Agile Talent team.
Joining us in Audit
Our role as an auditor is to act independently to support trust and integrity in the business. We provide a wide range of audit and assurance services to private, public and international companies across various sectors. We audit over 8,500 firms annually, ranging from FTSE and AIM companies to Small Medium Sized Enterprise (SME) companies. We pride ourselves on the high–level standards and quality we expect from our people.
In our role as external auditor, as well as the audit of financial statements, we are required to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of public bodies in their use of public resources (sometimes knowns as the Value for Money (VfM) conclusion). We are looking for people with appropriate skills to support our work on assessing the financial sustainability, governance and service performance of our public sector clients.
Skills we're looking for:
- Experience of working within public sector – local government, NHS bodies, police, fire in external or internal audit capacity.
- We envisage some knowledge of local authority and NHS finance and a reasonably good understanding of the governance and service performance of these sectors.
- Knowledge of Value for Money is preferred.
- Detail–orientated with strong organization and planning skill
- Accounting or finance qualification is an advantage.
Opportunity
The Public Sector Assurance Value for Money (VFM) team has a national profile meaning work is spread across a large client base, with client portfolios allocated on a regional basis, and we can offer a variety of opportunities including assignments which can be carried out from home or a local office as well as on site at clients.
