A bit about the role

Working as part of a team led by the Assistant Director Affordable Housing Grants, this role will focus on the successful business development, implementation and management of affordable housing programmes.

You will lead a highly experienced, national team of 8+ responsible for a number of business critical activities. You will play a fundamental role to project manage strategic and operational activities which underpin both the design and oversight of grant funded products and programmes.

You will be managing internal and external stakeholders, working closely with both cross Agency and Government departments.

The team works in a collaborative/flexible way and has a culture that values diversity in experience and perspective to foster good decision making and problem solving.

This is a rare chance to shape the future of affordable housing in a fast growing, national organisation with real social purpose. Working with a number of key stakeholders and a professional team you will ensure efficient, consistent and effective resolution of project objectives supporting the delivery of more affordable housing.

A bit about you

You'll bring significant experience of leading teams and projects across a range of work streams, working in a collaborative and inclusive way. With this you will have strong background in business development and programme management – leading on the end to end process for project design, implementation and management.

Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn't always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing diverse stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational requirements linked to affordable housing delivery.

You will enjoy working within a fast–paced environment, turn around objectives with efficiency and accuracy and handle changing and expansive portfolios. You will also be an excellent communicator and be able to negotiate and persuade with confidence.

You will bring both experience and a strong understanding of affordable housing, grant programmes, business development processes and policy/strategy development.

Who are we?

We are the Government's national housing agency. Our role is to accelerate the pace of house–building across the country, particularly in areas where there are the most serious affordability issues – meaning people are struggling to find homes.

We have the appetite, influence, expertise and resources to drive positive market change and meet the Government's ambition to deliver 300,000 new homes a year. We are using our land, influence, funds and knowledge to increase the pace, scale and quality of new homes accelerating delivery in areas of greatest demand and helping create great places to live. Within the next few years, we will have invested over GBP27 billion across our programmes. To deliver against these aims we're building a different kind of public service – join us to help make this happen.

We would encourage all applicants to apply as soon as possible as we may close vacancies early should we receive a high number of applications. We also encourage you to apply using the full application option as opposed to quick apply, this is especially important if you would like to indicate to us that you would like to be considered under the disability confident scheme.

If your application is shortlisted to interview we will require you to provide proof of your right to work in the UK at that stage.

Homes England are a geographically diverse community. We are all hybrid working at the moment spending some of our time working from home and some based at our offices which are spread across England. The wellbeing of our colleagues remains one of our top priorities.
