Contract Scotland is delighted to be working exclusively with a highly successful and fast–growing family–owned business that supplies aggregates, asphalt, cement, ready–mixed concrete, mortar, render and sports sand to the building and construction industry across Central Scotland.

With over 90 years experience, our client is one of the largest suppliers of quarry materials in Scotland and has developed a reputation for quality products and service excellence. They are a consistent and reliable supplier of choice, through the production of a wide range of quality assured materials and service excellence.

Due to continued growth and succession planning, our client is looking to appoint a Head of Technical Operations to lead and develop their Technical Division based at the head office in Central Scotland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Defining and implementing Technical Strategy;
  • Provide leadership, direction and support to Technical Managers and Technicians;
  • Leading the development of new products to respond to the needs of customers;
  • Work collaboratively and provide quality and technical input to senior management team
  • Management of customer complaint process with root cause analysis to prevent re–occurrence
  • Manage and liaise with internal and external clients regarding quality and specifications

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant industry experience, with a proven track record in a similar role
  • High level of technical knowledge of construction products particularly asphalt and concrete
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships and to lead and positively influence people
  • High level knowledge of concrete & asphalt industry standards and specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to keep up to date with relevant industry developments
  • Strong management and analytical skills
  • Personal drive and motivation
  • Well– developed IT skills and understanding of computer systems for monitoring and reporting of data.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and KiteMark certification.
