Location: Home–based Southern England (South West, South East and South Central England)
ATA Search is working in partnership with a leading UK building and construction materials manufacturing business based in the UK.
This well–established and profitable manufacturing business is looking to strengthen the commercial sales team by recruiting an experienced Business Development Manager to lead all sales activities with UK national and independent house builders in the southern part of England.
The successful Business Development Manager will already inherit over GBP6m business to grow and manage however, the key focus will be to target more independent and medium–sized house builders where you will be responsible for specifying your range of building materials products into new build applications.

Key Accountabilities:
- Demand creation of building materials products for new house build projects
- Managing long–term relationships 60% of the time and 40% of new business development
- Manage the entire sales process from customer generation, demand creation, managing specifications and price management
- You will also play an integral part in setting up channel partner agreements for the house builders to purchase the materials
- Monitor sales and margin performance and manage any price increases
- Identifying and prospecting opportunities across the sales channels to serve through established distribution
- Establishing and measuring weekly, monthly and annual KPIs
- Tracking of market trends through competitor intelligence and customer feedback
- Working with the internal business stakeholders in Marketing, Customer Service, Technical, Operations and Group Distribution to ensure sector awareness and cascade to the sales team
- Ensure all customer queries are handled appropriately and monitored through to resolution
Requirements:
- A proven track record in selling building materials products to UK national, independent and medium size house builders
- There is a strong preference for the successful Business Development Manager to have worked for a building materials manufacturing business however, this is not a prerequisite
- Demonstrate the technical competence to be able to specify your products for new house build projects
- A dynamic sales professional with hunter–sales instincts coupled with the ability to build long–term effective relationships
- Based in Southern England Ideal locations would be Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and the Northamptonshire region
