This role will lead complex, multi–disciplinary and diverse teams across the Cyber Regulatory Directorate and Cyber Profession and be a member of our Executive Committee within Ofgem.

The Executive Committee (ExCo) is chaired by our Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is responsible for our overall performance. Ten directors from across our organisation make up the committee membership.

The Director of Cyber Regulation will be responsible for leading Ofgems function as Competent Authority (joint with BEIS) for cyber security in the energy industry.

Reporting into The Director General for Infrastructure, the Director will develop and deliver a regulatory strategy to ensure that consumer interests in the security of supply from a cyber perspective are adequately protected as the energy industry evolves into a digitalised and decentralised net zero system. They will set clear minimum standards and guidance on best practice in the sector; embed this best practice across the energy industry; monitor compliance against standards; and work with Ofgems enforcement team to take action wherever necessary to protect consumer interests. The Director will need to work closely with Government and the NCSC, as well as establishing strong collaborative relationships with cyber–regulators in other sectors and other countries around the world.

As a non–ministerial department, Ofgem is accountable directly to Parliament for the performance of its duties.


    Person specification

    Lead the Cyber Regulatory Directorate and Cyber Profession at Ofgem
    • Engaging and collaborating with the Industry and other Government departments, to develop an effective regulatory framework for cyber security resilience.
    • Publishing cyber and security resilience guidance, practices and tools.
    • Monitor situation awareness, compliance and support enforcement actions where necessary.
    • Review, recommend and monitor cyber allowance for GEMA approval, related to Price Control.
    • Maintaining currency of cyber security requirements within energy related programmes.
    • Lead people engagement for Cyber, including recruitment, resource allocation, development, diversity and health index.
    • Support and influence Ofgem and cross Governmental Cyber strategy.
