The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity (RMCC) raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world–leading cancer centre. Together with the hospital we ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life–saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world. We are coming to the end of an ambitious three–year strategy that will deliver over GBP80m of funding to support the vital work of the hospital. Alongside an existing programme of world–class research, treatment and care, we have also raised GBP70 million, our biggest capital appeal to date, to build the Oak Cancer Centre, opening in a few months' time, that will provide radical new solutions for the research and treatment of cancer. The Associate Director of Corporate Services and Grants is responsible for enabling the delivery of our new three–year strategy by providing outstanding support and driving transformation across the wider organisation. This role provides strategic leadership to our Finance, Data, Operations, Grants, and HR teams, harnessing their capabilities to add value and improve the effectiveness of the whole organisation. Reporting directly to me and as a member of the organisation's Senior Leadership Team, the Associate Director takes responsibility for ensuring the delivery of complex cross–organisational projects in a collaborative and effective manner. We are looking for a collaborative leader who can inspire others and develop an effective Corporate Services function that offers best–in–class support to internal and external stakeholders. You will likely be a Chartered Accountant, although we will also consider candidates who have developed their experience in a wider setting but can demonstrate exceptional financial management skills. While you will be used to operating at the highest levels of an organisation, we are very much open to individuals looking to make their first step into an executive leadership role, and as such we are not concerned if you do not bring prior experience in all areas of the role. We are a small team, and our directors are not afraid to get stuck in when needed. You will, therefore, be as comfortable presenting to a highly influential set of stakeholders both on the Charity's Board and across the hospital, as you will be directly supporting and engaging with junior members of the team. Experience of working in a grant–giving and/or fundraising environment would also be advantageous. Tall Roots is acting as an employment agency partner to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. For full details, please download a copy of the candidate briefing document. If you would like an informal discussion about the role, please email Mark Crowley at Tall Roots.
