FD Recruit is exclusively partnering an owner managed care provider with care homes across the North West, to appoint a Finance Director. The FD will be required to travel to sites across the North West on occasions. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business as FD, working closely with the Co-Chief Executives to drive growth, ultimately developing the business from regional service provision to national. This role would suit an FD or CFO happy to be hands on initially, with experience in mid-sized or corporate companies and a track record of defining strategy, driving growth both organically and through M&A activity. The FD will have the following responsibilities:
  • Ensure stability of the company's finances with overall control of all financial activities and building a solid foundation upon which the business can grow.
  • Play a key role in the formulation of the company's long-term strategy.
  • Produce accurate reports and improve practices to increase efficiency demonstrating sound commercial awareness, advising the Senior Leadership Team on the best path of growth for the business.
  • Analyse performance and implement recommendations based on findings to drive the most profitable outcomes. Presentation of financial results and insights to the Board and shareholders with the provision of sound financial support and insights to enable the Board to make critical business decisions.
  • Manage financial reporting for the organisation including monthly financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, 5 year financial plans and all statutory financial reporting.
  • Take overall control of the company's accounting function, leading and developing the finance team, including recruitment, training, mentoring and development of staff.
  • Manage and oversee the taxation affairs of the organisation and liaise with the external tax firm for specialist advice to maximise tax efficiencies for the company and shareholders.
  • Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met.
  • Take ultimate responsibility for the company's cash management policies and ensure the appropriate treasury controls are in place.
  • Ensure that company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth.
  • Manage the External Auditor relationship and ensure the organisation is compliant with accounting standards.
  • Manage and oversee the company's banking and borrowing arrangements.
  • Manage relationships with Investors and shareholders.
  • Investment appraisal and analysis including companies Prop Co, Op Co and potential future investments that will complement the Company's strategy for growth.
  • Presentation of results to non-finance colleagues.
  • Risk Management to ensure the business has a solid risk framework in place
  • Oversee commercial decision making from tender analysis, margin analysis, pricing analysis.
  • Advise and implement best practice methods to increase revenue and reduce costs.
  • Advise on market changes and provide strategic financial recommendations to the Board.
  • Corporate finance: manage company policies regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation, equity, disposals and acquisitions, as appropriate.

To be successful in this role the FD will have the following experience:
  • 10+ years' experience in a senior financial managerial position with a proven record of success.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred) and professional accounting qualification.
  • Sound decision making skills based on accurate and timely analysis.
  • Results oriented and metrics driven.
  • Exceptional time management and able to solve problems.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and leadership skills, with the ability to communicate and manage staff at all levels.
  • Ability to lead by example and demonstrate a strong sense of integrity, ethics and dependability.
  • Professional written and oral communication skills.
  • Confident to present results to an audience.
  • Strategic thinking, planning and creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to collaborate with senior management to organise, plan and achieve company financial goals.
  • Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and financial reporting software.


The salary advertised for this role is a guideline, the salary offered will be commensurate with experience.
