Head of Mechanical Permanent staff – GBPSalary + Excellent Benefits North Lincolnshire
Our leading manufacturing client are seeking a Head of Mechanical on a permanent staff basis to join their growing team. To provide a mechanical engineering leadership & technical role for the site. To promote and ensure all engineering maintenance activities are conducted to the correct site, national and international standards and that the assets and equipment are performing to achieve business objectives and KPI s. Responsible for the efficient operation of the work planning system for both weekly and shutdown planning.
Direct management: Maintenance Engineers, Maintenance Team Leader, Maintenance Planning Coordinator
Indirect: 10 Mechanical Technicians & ad–hoc supporting contractors
As a member of the Engineering Leadership Team, you ll be responsible for managing mechanical maintenance resources and processes to ensure the Team delivers a service that provides a safe, reliable plant achieving production and quality targets. Ensuring the strategic management of plant assets and long–term upgrades and replacements as needed.
Main responsibilities:
- Leading a Mechanical Team and responsible for providing technical advice and expertise on all mechanical maintenance activities on the site.(20%)
- Responsible for ensuring assets are maintained so they operate safely and reliably in a cost effective manner.(20%)
- Provide lead role in the planning and prioritisation of weekly and shutdown maintenance / operations tasks through the effective use of SAP and planning tools ensuring compliance with high–level KPI s.(10%)
- Through the use of asset reliability data / OEE losses, ensure proper RCA / investigations are performed. Identify and organise asset improvement projects providing justifications for savings for inclusion on capex vouchers.(10%)
- Ensures contract companies are responsive to company needs and provide a quality service that meet expectations.(10%)
- Develops the Ageing Plant strategy.(20%)
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with all safety, health and environmental procedures in area of responsibility.(10%)
Qualifications & Experience:
- MEng / BEng/ BSc Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- NEBOSH Certificate preferred or equivalent
- Ideally industry experience in chemicals, petrochemicals, oil & gas, power generation, steel industry, pharmaceuticals, heavy manufacturing, COMAH or highly regulated sites
- Mechanical engineering input into R&M budget of GBP4m+
Competency:
Skills work as part of the team solving complex engineering / process problems. Able to work to timescales with a flexible approach and provide effective communication at all levels.
Knowledge continuous process plant and equipment (rotating and fixed), maintenance strategies such as risk based inspections (RBI), planned, predictive and run to failure. Statutory regulations; PSSR, LOLER, PUWER along with a thorough understanding of ASME & API construction / repair codes. Working knowledge of management of change and SAP processes.
