The Development Optimisation & Strategy team within RWE's Offshore Wind business owns and drives development and delivery of key business strategic and change topics. As a team we are shaping the future of offshore wind development within RWE with ambitious development targets as part of our Growing Green strategy.

As a global Project Manager in the area of Community Economic Development, you will manage a portfolio of global initiatives required for RWE to realise its sustainability strategy. The Project Manager for Community Economic Development will have experience in economic development, value creation, project, community engagement and local supply chains.

Role Description

  • Own and drive initiatives that enable us to achieve our local benefits ambitions, including:
    • You will be a highly motivated and passionate self-starter able to create and drive the delivery across a global organisation of key strategic initiatives and projects
    • Working across the organisation with support of sustainability colleagues you will find solutions for anchoring and delivering sustainability initiatives in a lean and effective manner
    • You will have insight to and passion for the sustainability agenda as part of the wider Net Zero journey in particular in the renewable and offshore wind industry. A detailed understanding of auction frameworks and local content requirements is a plus
    • You will act as a key point of contact for RWE Group and RWE Renewables on local benefit topics and develop as an industry Subject Matter Expert
    • You will prepare and support key investment decision at Board level ensuring alignment between key stakeholders
    • Develop, initiate and implement new initiatives in close cooperation with the wider business and in line with leading standards and international and national programs
    • Project manage overall pipeline of existing and potential future initiatives, including regular reporting on plan (budget, time, progress, performance, impact)
    • Develop framework for managing local benefit best practices and define and set up monitoring measure for local benefit activities
    • Support collaboration, development and sharing of good practice and the deployment of initiatives and expertise within different business functions, incl. but not limited to origination & development, construction and operation
  • Work closely with Sustainability team, peer Sustainability Project Management colleagues and Offshore Wind Development teams
  • Provide direction and expert advice on sustainability, in particular local benefits. Stay abreast of fast evolving landscape of these topics and serve as our subject matter expert, including frameworks, competitor & market analysis
  • Participate and support sustainability strategy review process including interface with senior leaders and material preparation for board materials
  • Steering of external partners and consultants where required
  • Represent Offshore Wind through proactive networking with various external stakeholders in the respective field
  • Support and develop additional activities in line with the Offshore Sustainability strategy and targets

Key qualifications/skills:

  • Completed university studies or equivalent in business administration, project management, environmental sciences or similar studies
  • A number of years of relevant professional experience in an international environment in the field of:
    • Sustainability consulting
    • and/or programme management with focus either on sustainability / local benefits / community and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience and good track record in stakeholder management is required; experience in consenting, local engagement or community benefit is an advantage
  • Experience and good track record in driving projects End to End
  • Proven experience in matrix project coordination with cross-functional project teams and various stakeholders
  • Knowledgeable of global sustainability trends, frameworks and tools of relevance for the position
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills, persuasiveness and a confident manner, also in an international environment
  • Understand, promote and role model new ways of working and behaviours
  • Promote respect for people, work collaboratively and understand how to create the environment for high performing teams
  • Good command of MS Office, in particular PowerPoint
  • Independent, structured and analytical way of working
  • Initiative, agile way of working and facilitation skills
  • A true team-player
  • Authentic passion for sustainability
  • Business fluent in English. German and additional languages of advantage
  • Willingness to regular travel, incl. international travels
