Top ranked independent accountancy practice and award–winning employer with hundreds of staff across approximately 20 offices seeks Audit & Assurance Director/Partner as part of its continuing expansion.With people and culture are at the heart of what they do, the company uniquely impacts its clients, colleagues and the communities in which it operates via its employees, seeing its success as highly dependent upon its strong values–lead approach.As Audit & Assurance Director/Partner based at the firm's Newcastle office you will lead, enable and manage the Audit & Assurance department, providing a first–class client service experience and delivering the budgeted internal financial performance.

Shaping the firm's future growth and development, key elements of this role include:

  • Directing the planning and prioritising of all relevant client work ensuring effective departmental workflow
  • Overseeing and ensuring establishment of scope and budget for each piece of client work and ensuring adequate briefings to team members are given
  • Monitoring work progress and ensuring appropriate levels of communication with all clients and internal stakeholders
  • Monitoring individual and team performance versus original objectives and departmental KPIs
  • Providing regular feedback to all team members on their performance via informal '1:1' meetings and formal appraisals / quarterly reviews
  • Where there's opportunity or need to improve performance compared with target, encourage and instigate appropriate action and focus
  • Building, developing and maintaining a network of business Partners / intermediates to ensure the profile of Armstrong Watson is positive in the marketplace and to generate referral opportunities
  • Achieving your own incremental fee target

As Audit & Assurance Director/Partner you'll need:

  • Strong recent experience as an Audit/Assurance Director, Senior Manager or Partner, likely gained with a Top 50 UK practice
  • ACCA/ICAS/ICAEW qualification or equivalent
  • Excellent knowledge, and working experience, of the International Standards on Auditing (UK and Ireland) variant
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of all relevant UK taxes such as Corporation Tax, VAT, PAYE etc in order to ensure amounts are accurately presented in the financial statements of a company
  • Familiarity using audit software and accounts preparation software to ensure files are prepared and signed off in line with the relevant standards and firm policy
  • Robust experience in preparing and auditing statutory financial statements in line with UK Generally Accepted Accounting Practice
