Head of Reward

This role leads the ongoing development of the organisation's reward strategy and total reward offering, ensuring that we are able to attract and retain great people with the capabilities needed for the future. It's a key role on the Senior Leadership Team, and is a central point of contact for Remuneration Committee as well as our Executive Committee.

We are a Geospatial commercial Ltd company operating as a GovCo with the UK Government Investments acting as our Shareholder. The business recognises two Trade Unions that play an important role in developing the employee proposition

How you'll make an impact:

In this role, you will design, develop and execute a total reward strategy for our organisation. You'll also lead on core reward activities including fixed and variable compensation, including sales incentives, executive compensation, benefits, recognition, pensions, governance, and national & international mobility. You will lead a small team, model our values, and develop talent in the team and beyond.

In this role, success will look like:

  • Designing and executing a total reward strategy aligned to our short and long–term business strategy, and reinforces the culture and values we want.
  • Delivering reward projects and initiatives across geographically dispersed and international teams.
  • Delivering a great service proposition, effective and clearly communicated policies, and clear governance (including job evaluation) that adds value.
  • Leveraging technology and making sure reward requirements are measured and managed through Workday, with metrics in place to understand strengths and opportunities.
  • Regularly benchmarking the reward offering to ensure we are clear on where we stand in the external market.
  • Leading Trade Union pay negotiations to enable delivery of the business plan, and support the transition from a civil service pay structure to a more differentiated approach.
  • Working closely with the Director of People to create and deliver papers for the Remuneration committee; also linking with the chair to manage the agenda, minutes and action log.

What you'll bring:

You'll be a credible reward professional, able to apply technical knowledge to drive forward the reward offering in a GovCo setting. Your subject matter expertise means you can provide strong leadership, direction, and guidance to the P&OE team, business leaders, and Remuneration Committee on reward matters. And you'll be comfortable taking on a consultative approach to engage with the business on all aspects of reward, including pensions, so the business and employees understand facts and risks.

To be successful in this role, you need to be skilled at:

  • Negotiating with people and groups
  • Leading programmes of work – from inception to design and delivery
  • Communicating with a wide range of critical stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Analysing and interpreting complex and technical information
  • Collaborating, and able to build strategic partnerships with people and groups
  • Challenging individuals confidently and constructively, and managing own resilience
  • Creative and pragmatic solutions to challenging and new problems

We're also looking for a brilliant people leader, we believe people work best when they have a clear mission, feel empowered to make change, and have a great work–life balance. So we're looking for someone who understands how to lead and grow people, can shape a customer focused and collaborative culture, and creates environments where people thrive and learn together.

We want you to love what you do. That's why our benefits package rewards a job well done. We'll give you:

  • Performance related bonus
  • A competitive pension scheme
  • 37 hour working week (with flexible working options)
  • 25 days annual leave – (rising by 1 day every year), bank holidays and an extra 3 over Christmas
  • Hybrid working
