About Us:
The Boathouse Youth is the largest provider of youth work provision in Blackpool. We work with children and young people aged 5 to 17, from socio–economically deprived communities across the town, to help tackle the challenges they're experiencing.
We are open 6 days per week all year round. We have four programme areas each facilitating a variety of physical, creative and educational activities including centre–based youth work, outreach, offsite visits and residential experiences. We also have a specialist programme for children with additional needs and disabilities.
Our team of highly skilled professionals interact with young people on a daily basis to deliver well thought out programmes in an engaging way.
We aim to facilitate a safe space to improve mental well–being, promote positive behaviours, support educational growth and encourage a healthy lifestyle.
This helps young people become the best versions of themselves through increasing their aspirations and improving their relationships. Our ultimate aim is to break the cycle of deprivation and enable our young people to lead their best lives.
We were shortlisted for the 'Youth Work Award' in the CYP Now Awards 2022 and received Highly Commended Community Business of the Year in the BIBA Awards 2022.
Job Purpose:
The post holder will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team made up of four Programme Managers: Universal Programme, Direct Engagement, Holiday, Activity & Food (HAF) and Pathway (SEN).
As a lead member of the Universal team you will work across all sections at The Boathouse Youth and have responsibility for the offer delivered to young people aged 5–17.
The programme delivered is significantly influenced by the National Youth Agency's National Curriculum for Youth Services. You will ensure all sessions are of a high–quality, as well as creative and fun, with a primary focus on the needs of children & young people. You will be responsible for the continuous improvement of the delivery as well as finding new opportunities and experiences which enable young people to lead their best life.
You have a passion for putting children and young people first and wanting to be a positive role model in their lives.
This is a fun and exciting, but challenging role in a growing and ambitious charity working with over 1000 different young people a year. The charity currently operates across two sites, with approximately 250 admissions per week. The Boathouse Youth is a place where no two days are ever the same and the fun (along with hard work), never stops.
Context of the post:
The Boathouse Youth, located in Blackpool, is the largest provider of youth work provision in the area. We are open 6 days a week, 50 weeks a year, providing local young people from socio–economically deprived communities the opportunity to engage with, on an almost daily basis, a well thought out programme delivered by highly skilled professionals. The Boathouse Youth aims to improve mental wellbeing, promote positive behaviours and support educational growth as well as encouraging a healthy lifestyle to all of its members. It is also a safe space for children where they can become the best versions of themselves through increasing their aspirations and improving their relationships with others. The Boathouse Youth was also shortlisted for the 'Youth Work Award' in the Children and Young People Now Awards 2022.
Established in 2009, The Boathouse Youth has developed from a small youth group running inside a church hall to Blackpool's biggest children's charity.
