My client, a large FMCG organisation, based in Bromsgrove, is recruiting an Interim Management Accountant to support and work directly for the Financial Controller assisting with all finance matters, including the upcoming PLC audit.

Location: Bromsgrove

Contract length: 3 months contract with a view to extend

Candidate Rate: 300 – 400 per day (inside IR35)

Working practice: Hybrid (2 days on site per week)

Key Responsibilities of the Interim Management Accountant:

  • Manage the accounting entries for inventory, including analysis to support understanding of pricing, standard costs, variances arising, inventory valuation, provisions for obsolescence, intercompany transactions and goods in transit. Reconcile inventory dashboard
  • Analyse and reconcile Sales and Gross Margin to Sales Management Reporting tool
  • Partner with the business; provide informed reports and analyses for management and board, in line with business needs and objectives
  • Prepare entity and group financial statements (monthly, quarterly and annually) including accounting entries, journals, and KPIs.
  • Prepare the monthly consolidation spreadsheet for all entities in the group for monthly management accounts; reconcile balances with statutory accounts
  • Manage accounting requirements for Third Party business partners
  • Manage monthly VAT reporting, preparing returns for HMRC and overseas tax authorities
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts and transactions across the group
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving any differences arising
  • Prepare analyses for annual Budget, monthly forecast updates and expenses by cost centre. Upload entity budgets into financial systems
  • Provide analysis to support items in accounts and disclosures for statutory financial statements, including foreign exchange entries and reconciliations, and tax analysis
  • Ensure that relevant financial system data is accurate and up to date, processes are documented and appropriate controls are in place. Assist with the maintenance of financial accounting systems
  • Foster continuous improvement in line with business needs and objectives.

Essential Requirements of the Interim Management Accountant:

  • Accounting qualification – ACA, ACCA, CIMA or QBE
  • Experience of major accounting systems, budgeting and forecasting, financial performance reporting and engagement with business management, preferably in a large, international corporate setting
  • 5 + years Accounting experience
  • Good understanding of standard costing of stock in manufacturing
  • Previous experience of preparing management accounts and analysis
  • Excel skills – Intermediate
