Multi-international Construction Business looking for an Inhouse Lawyer in Construction or Engineering Law.

Multi international Construction and Infrastructure business with 8000 staff in UK.

Your new role

  • Supporting the management of contractual and commercial risk, predominantly to Engineering Contracts, through the provision of commercially oriented and solution focussed legal advice to the planning and development disciplines with the business
  • Reviewing and negotiating consultancy appointments and other related contracts
  • Liaising with internal engineering disciplines, the bid team, project managers and directors together with other support functions including credit control in relation to terms of appointment and delivery issues.
  • Managing the contract review process to minimise any impact on the working capital and proactively seek the timely conclusion of contract negotiations
  • Advising on aspects of contract and construction law
  • Ensuring that corporate governance is maintained in relation to contract reviews and approvals
  • Providing advice and guidance on tender documents to identify and address risk and promote competitiveness
  • Updating the business on legal developments and deliver business focussed training from time to time.
  • Ensuring that contractual risk positions are consistent with insurance coverage and liaise with the insurance team as required
  • Supporting the business in the contract delivery phase to maximise revenue and minimise risk.



What you'll need to succeed


  • Qualified as a solicitor in England& Wales with at least 1+ year PQE, ideally 1-4 years PQE but open to candidates with more experience too.
  • Good experience in Construction and Engineering law, including infrastructure projects such as Highways, Bridge, Transport, etc., or Planning Consultancy experience
  • Flexible with Inhouse or Practice background
  • Strong communication skills, consultancy and advisory experience will be preferred
  • Be able to travel to Guildford at least 2-3 days a week
