Group Finance Director

My client is a profitable £25m t/o independent group of 3 Precision Engineering manufacturing SME's, with the SMT based at its main site operating from its large, modern Production facility in Skelmersdale, Lancashire.

As a key member of the Board, this is an excellent career opportunity for a technically strong Finance Director with strong Manufacturing/Engineering sector experience to join this ambitious SME group to achieve its exciting growth strategy over the next few years.

Key responsibilities/challenges will include:

• Oversee and develop the Finance, IT & HR functions to ensure the business infrastructure can support the business growth strategy.
• Provision of robust and timely financial, management and statutory accounts.
• Develop KPI's to proactively monitor and drive business performance across the Manufacturing supply chain to meet the extremely exacting standards required from their largely Blue Chip client base.
• Key focus on cash management and working capital within strict Bank covenants.
• Manage all aspects of Budget preparation & regular Re-forecasts.
• Manage all foreign exchange activities.
• Ensure Company Secretarial needs are fulfilled, including all statutory reporting and financial compliance requirements are met for the Group.
• Operate as finance business partner to the CEO in the delivery of capital projects, new product development, new Client tenders and the appraisal of a range of new business opportunities..
• Main point of regular contact with all professional external stakeholders - Banks, Auditors, Tax, Insurance etc.
• Overall, to act as a key player to ensure the ongoing profitable and sustainable growth and development of this leading Precision Engineering profit centre SME group of companies.

Candidate profile:

• A bright, high calibre qualified accountant with strong technical financial and statutory reporting/compliance experience and the ability to implement the robust financial controls, systems and governance to support this growing group.
• In addition, this "full" FD role also requires operational/commercial experience having directly operated within a Manufacturing/Engineering site-based environment.
• Strong Leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• You must also be able to demonstrate the Strategic ability to work effectively as "right hand" to the CEO to shape the overall successful direction and growth of the business over the short, medium and longer term.
