Part-time commercial in-house opportunity, within payments.

Our client, a payments scale-up with offices in the UK and Australia, is looking for a Legal Counsel to join the Legal and Compliance Team. You'll be reporting to the Global Head of Legal and Compliance, who is based in London. Both full-time and part-time candidates are welcome to apply.

In this role, you'll be helping the Head of Legal and Compliance to shape the Legal and Compliance function, working side by side with all other teams in Commercial, Corporate, Product development, Engineering, Information Security and Operations.

Key Responsibilities
* Assist the Head of Legal and Compliance in the day to day running of the function
* Strong emphasis on organising and managing a contract management and reporting system, including the preparation and issuing of standard-form contracts to new and existing clients. Contracts include NDAs, client agreements and amendments, vendor agreements, software license agreements, standard terms of business
* Assist in the maintenance of standard documentation, policies and the corporate wide risk and compliance program, with particular emphasis on Data Protection
* Conduct legal research and condense complex issues into concise and accessible reports/summaries
* Serve as triage for enquiries and requests related to Legal and Compliance, escalating to Head of Legal and Compliance as appropriate
* Liaise with internal team members and other departments (e. sales, operations, corporate senior management) to ensure effective cross functional communication and reporting

Required Experience:
* Solid understanding of IT technical and commercial /broader legal terms
* Strong understanding of UKGDPR and EU GDPR and their practical applications in an online B2B services context.
* Experience in collation of information necessary for Data Protection Impact Assessments, Transfer Impact Assessments, Legitimate Interest Assessments and coordination of related data protection compliance programs
* Excellent attention to detail in a fast paced environment
* High degree of comfort working in the grey, with the ability to be self-motivated and manage conflicting priorities under pressure and deadlines
* Experience taking the lead on admin activities critical to the organisation and performance of the Legal and Compliance function

Qualifications
* Qualified Solicitor with strong training at a recognised law firm or within a reputable in-house legal function

Desirable:
* Experience and/or understanding of the Payments landscape, Card Scheme Rules, PSD2, Money Laundering Regulations (not mandatory)

Skills and Attributes
* Strong organisation skills and a passion for meticulous contract administration
* Highly adept in Microsoft Office Word, Adobe, Google Docs, G Suite.
* Ability to understand complex processes and technologies, and translate into simple concepts
* Passion for learning the detail behind payment processing in the transit industry.
