We have an excellent opportunity for a media lawyer to work with a globally renowned and respected media company, as part of their Scripted Business Affairs team.

You will be a pivotal member of this friendly, collegiate team and build, manage and maintain first-class relationships with key external organisations, as well as implement the rights and business strategies.

The team works closely with production and editorial leads to secure talent and acquire IP rights, to produce and develop some of the best Scripted content on offer. They offer valued advice and support to the Comedy Scripted Production teams, as well as many other departments. They play an integral part in ensuring all their content is delivered to a very high standard for a globally recognised brand.

Main Responsibilities and Skills:
  • Managing issues and legal risk and escalating as appropriate across scripted.
  • Drafting and negotiating long-form legal documents e.g. option, script, format, co-production and location agreements.
  • Support to Head of Legal and Business Affairs.
  • Supporting more junior members of the Scripted BA team.
Are you right for the role?
You will have an understanding of Scripted BA for the television/digital media industry ideally.
You should have market knowledge around production costs and talent fees, and should have a sound understanding of production processes, programme-making, and deal-making for scripted content.

You will have a strong background in influencing and negotiating and possess strong contracting experience, especially in managerial and business affairs/rights. Confidence in managing time and budgetary constraints, as well as a track record in delivering complex projects, is key.
