Key responsibilities:
  • Lead on the operational policy for the Counter Disinformation Unit (CDU), ensuring the team are acting in compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Operationalise the legislation by developing and implementing an internal compliance policy and associated internal processes.
  • Responsible for delivery of all CDU–related Freedom of Information requests, input into Subject Access Requests and transparency requirements.
  • Ensure that processes and considerations are in place to support the team operating to high ethical standards.
  • Lead the compliance requirements of the CDUs Counter Disinformation Data Platform.
  • Work closely with DCMS legal advisors and data protection experts on all cross–cutting work.

The ideal candidate would have the following key skills and experience:

Essential requirements:
  • Experience working with and advising on data protection and relevant privacy legislation or investigatory legislation.
  • Track record in developing processes and ways of working.
  • Excellent communication skills, such as a proven ability to communicate technical and complex legal concepts in a clear and accessible way.
  • Stakeholder management skills to build strong relationships, comfortable with managing conflicting opinions and priorities and delivering through others.
Desirable skills:
  • Experience of working on disinformation, national security or related policy area or complex / contested policy areas is beneficial but not essential.
  • Knowledge and experience of creating and working with ethical frameworks.

Location

This role can be based in London, Manchester, Darlington or Belfast.The hub locations are displayed on the job advert. Not all hub locations have confirmed office space yet – successful applicants will be expected to work remotely until this becomes available.
