Field Trials Programme Manager Thornhaugh, PE8 Full Time from GBP30,000 per year 25 days annual holiday + bank holidays and generous contributory pension scheme
As the UK's centre of excellence for peas and beans, our client has a long and highly valued track record of providing independent authoritative, up to date information and project work based on solid, reliable, applied, crop research.
An active member of the field trials and research projects teams participating in field–based research, you will take responsibility for coordinating the company s projects and commercial efficacy trials.
You will be responsible for organising the workflow and allocating the resources required for the timely execution and delivery of project and contract field trials, as well as managing and collating the production of trials reports, reporting activities for sponsors and customers, and communicating activities, investigations and reports to a range of audiences as required.
You will maintain personal and company current scientific advancement, via training events, literature, meetings and workshops and knowledge exchange activities.
You will join a relaxed working environment within an enthusiastic and supportive team, focussed on supporting UK growers of peas and beans.
Please note that you own transport will be required to get to and from the research station, which is in a rural location close to the A1.
Are you the right person for the job?
- Relevant academic qualifications to a higher degree level in agricultural, environmental or related subjects
- You are likely to have previous experience in crop trials, agricultural efficacy testing, environmental research or on farm crop evaluation
- Hold BASIS Agriculture and Environment Certificates and on the BASIS Professional Register
- Hold FACTS Certificate
- NPTC PA1 and PA6 certificates
if these are not held you will be expected and assisted to undertake qualifications at the earliest opportunity.
What will your role look like?
- Co–ordinate and lead new and existing research projects and efficacy trials, evaluate data and perform appropriate research support as necessary
- Organise results analysis and timely accurate reports for efficacy trials and R and D projects within budget
- Provide regular updates on all current R and D and efficacy trial activities to the Management Team and the preparation of relevant technical documents or press articles
- Take responsibility for Project management for administration and delivery of grant aid and internally funded projects as required
- Liaise with and develop associations with external organisations for the purpose of, identifying sources of new income including being the primary contact for new efficacy trialling contractors
- Participate in knowledge transfer activities, and training courses, producing technical literature, reports and research articles for publication
- Communicate relevant new technical information and assist in skill development with colleagues within the company remit
- Maintain qualifications and memberships up to date and relevant to the industry as required. (e.g. Basis, FACTS)
- Ensure that the ORETO GEP accreditation is maintained at the company
