As an Avionic Systems Senior Engineer, you will design and develop functional and detailed design for the Typhoon Avionics. This will include designing and evolving the modes and capabilities required by the Typhoon Weapon System, as it is iteratively upgraded to include new sensors, weapons capabilities and Avionics equipment.

As a senior engineer, you will operate with more autonomy and less supervision, assisting the Group Leader with discharging more of the team duty set, and acting to coach and direct junior members of the team.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Production and maintenance of Functional Requirements Documents, capturing functional behaviour (including interfaces) of sub–system equipment. For detailed design activities, development of associated schemes and algorithms.
  • Review of System / Sub–System problem reports resulting from various sources such as System Integration Test Rigs, Flight Testing and Customer feedback. Documenting the analysis/results and maintaining accurate logs and status information.
  • Support formal reviews in order to ensure correct implementation of requirements and subsequent designs
  • Analyse Sub–System failure cases, capturing resultant hazards and intended mitigations.

  • Must be a good communicator and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must be capable of working within agreed standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrate structured approach to problem solving in order to solve complex problems (some support will be provided as required).
  • Should be capable participating in technical meetings, leading where required.
  • Capable of discharging work and maintaining budgetary / schedule responsibilities

In order to deliver against key responsibilities the candidate requires the following skills and qualifications:

  • Experience of Design Tools / methodology (e.g. Statemate Artisan, Rhapsody, UML & Doors) would be advantageous.
  • Experience of JIRA Agile project management tool would be advantageous.
  • Should be capable of deriving system requirements (with support from a line leader) from higher level requirements (Customer etc.).
  • Must be capable of working within agreed standards and procedures and understand the importance of configuration control.
  • Knowledge of the process for Hazard analysis (including Analysis Tool e.g. Fault Tree+) would be preferable, but formal and on the job training will be provided.

Additional information:

  • Hybrid Working: there will be a requirement to attend site at least 60% (3 days per week) of the time.
  • Must be suitable for clearance up to SECRET on UK national and UK involved multi–national programmes.

This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a Criminal Record Check and you must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct access to ITAR Material, therefore we can only consider UK Nationals for this position. The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs).
